Liability and Medical Responsibility

The Maryland Sports Arena is not responsible for any injuries, regardless of how they occur, that a player may receive. Additionally, the Maryland Sports Arena does not assume any responsibility for medical treatment of players or for payment of any medical bills.

Team Rosters and Player Waivers

Each team is required to complete the tournament roster/liability waiver sheet prior to the start of the tournament http://marylandsportsarena.com/2024adultwaiver.pdf Forms are also available at the concession stand. These forms will be your tournament roster. In case of protests, your roster forms will be reviewed. No form submitted, you forfeit.

Game Rules and Procedures

All games follow the rules of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), except those amended by the Maryland Sports Arena. There is no 3 line violation or 6 foul 2 minute penalty. Chewing gum or similar products will result in a two-minute penalty. Spitting on the field also incurs a two-minute penalty. Games are 24 minutes long with no timeouts. The scheduled game time is also the forfeit time. Substitutions are unlimited, with a maximum of 15 seconds allowed for guaranteed substitutions when the ball is out of bounds via the ceiling, side, or rear netting. Guaranteed substitutions are not allowed during the last two minutes of each game. No guaranteed substitutions are allowed for fouls; teams may substitute "on the fly" for fouls. On foul situations, the ball must be played within five seconds. There will be two whistles for out-of-bounds and one whistle for fouls. Punting or drop-kicking by the goalkeeper is not allowed.

Players wearing plaster casts are not permitted to play. Acceptable allowed. footwear includes flat-soled soccer shoes, tennis shoes, or turf shoes; cleats are not allowed on the playing surface. All players are required to wear shin guards. In the event of a uniform conflict, the home team is responsible for changing uniforms.

Conduct and Sportsmanship

Dissent toward officials from players, coaches, or spectators will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion. Taunting results in a two-minute penalty. Teams are responsible for the behavior of their fans. Any player ejected before, during, or after a game will be suspended for the next 2 tournament games. All red cards are subject to further review and may result in additional tournament suspension. A red card carries a five-minute un-releasable penalty. Teams, players, or coaches who threaten officials may be banned from the facility. Simultaneous penalties are un-releasable. Referee decisions cannot be protested. Teams expelled from the tournament will not receive refunds. Teams wishing to protest ineligible players must notify the referee before the end of the game and identify the player in question. Players may only play on one team in the tournament. If a game becomes physical or a player is out of control, it is the coach's responsibility to address the issue. Major infractions in the penalty box result in a penalty kick, which is taken from the first dot outside the box. All other players must stand behind the second dot outside the penalty area when the kick is taken. The ball is live once the kick is taken during the game. Shootouts are not part of tournament play.

Scoring and Advancement

Three points are awarded for a win and one point for a tie. In the event of a tie for advancement, the following tiebreakers will be used in order: head-to-head competition, goal differential in head-to-head games, total goal differential, and fewest goals allowed. If a tie still exists, advancement is determined by a coin flip. For must-win games, a best-of-three alternating penalty kick format is used. If still tied, the contest proceeds to 1v1 penalty kicks until a winner is determined.

Facility and House Rules

· No commercially prepared food or drink may be brought into the facility.

· No food or drink is allowed on the playing field. Sports drinks or water may be consumed only on the players’ benches, in plastic bottles.

· Gum, chewing tobacco, and sunflower seeds are not permitted. Spitting on the field is prohibited.

· Overflow parking is available in the gravel lot next to the property. Property owner has agreed to open his fenced gates and allow us to park on his lot for the tournament ONLY! (Do not block bus entrance gates!) Overflow parking is also allowed behind the West Shore Office Building. Do not park in front of the West Shore Office Building (Tattoo shop, barber shop, etc.)—vehicles will be towed.

· No ball playing is permitted off the field. All balls must be held or kept in bags. Do not bounce balls off the field.

· Children must be supervised by their parents at all times.

· Please do not stand in front of the bleachers; remain seated while in the bleacher area. Do not stand on the top level of the bleachers for safety reasons.

· No horns, bells or similar type noise makers.

· No climbing is allowed on any building structures. Do not bang on the glass dasher boards.

· No smoking is permitted within the facility. Foul or abusive language is not tolerated. Anyone fighting on the premises may be banned.

Enjoy the facility and have fun, but please remember that you participate and play at your own risk.
